Who
Can Be a Colostrum Donor
The colostrum donors that participate in the National Colostrum Network
consist of a variety of individuals.
From horse owners and farmers, to breeding facility managers and
veterinarians, there are a vast number of resources that the NCN works
with. All of the NCN’s colostrum donors
have either collected and frozen their own mare’s colostrum, or they have
reliable access to sources of frozen colostrum. These donors then volunteer their time to participate as a
contact for other horse breeders who find themselves in need of colostrum for a
newborn foal.
The National Colostrum Network was founded at the
University of
Minnesota-College of Veterinary Medicine.
