What Does "Good" Colostrum Look Like?
It is always best
to measure IgG levels to determine the quality of colostrum. However, if this is not possible, then
examine the consistency of the colostrum.
Usually, good colostrum will be thick
and sticky! Please note though that not all ‘thick and sticky’
colostrum is of good quality. On the
other hand, virtually all thin and watery colostrum has low IgG levels.
The National Colostrum Network was founded at the
University of
Minnesota-College of Veterinary Medicine.
